Did you know that your health insurance company covers the cost of gum care treatment?

    Book your free* consultation!

Inflammation of the gums can affect the whole organism and should be taken seriously.
Any symptoms should be treated professionally to avoid bone reduction or loss of teeth later on.
To arrange individual treatment for your specific needs, we examine the condition of your gums during the consultation
and draw up a plan of action, together with you.
Depending on the extent to which your gums are affected, we might also offer you a special course of gum regeneration treatment,
which is covered to a large degree by the statutory health insurance.

*This is paid by your German health insurance company.
Private patients will be invoiced directly and are directly responsible for paying this invoice.

    Healthy gums do not bleed

Inflammation of the gums, bleeding or receding gums are all a sign of gum disease, also known as periodontitis. Around half the adult population in Germany is affected by this and it is the second most common chronic ailment after caries.

The inflammation begins without us noticing and develops slowly over a period of years. Periodontitis is also the main cause of tooth loss in adults. The risk of developing other common diseases, such as diabetes, rheumatism or coronary illnesses, is much greater and the severity of the disease much higher if you are suffering from untreated periodontitis.

Although the progress of this disease varies greatly between patients, it can be easily detected and treated early on if you have regular checkups at your dentist. If you notice any signs of gum disease, please don’t hesitate to contact us for advice.

    Costs

After a thorough examination, the costs of treating periodontitis are covered to 100% by the health insurance companies.

However, coverage requires that a professional dental clean is performed in a dental practice and that thorough oral hygiene procedures are followed.

    Progress

Periodontitis can provide favourable conditions for secondary diseases to develop, although the patient may not connect these with the original gum disease at first. Initially it begins with inflammation of the gums (gingivitis), caused primarily by bacterial plaque. If this goes untreated, the tissues around the infection will slowly be affected and the disease will progress intermittently.

Regular bleeding of the gums should therefore be seen as a warning signal! If you also suffer from halitosis, this is another indication that urgent action should be taken. As a result of the inflammation, the gums recede, forming pockets. If left untreated, this can lead to bone reduction and tooth mobility, eventually resulting in tooth loss.

    Therapy

Gum disease can be successfully stopped if detected in good time and treated accordingly. If you already have deep pockets in your gums, the cause is usually the presence of tartar and plaque in those hard to reach areas. Our specialist staff clean the surface of the roots to remove these deposits.

This treatment is not the same as our professional teeth cleaning service. Depending on patient wishes and the severity, this might be done under local anaesthetic.

However, a sustainable and successful outcome to the treatment still relies heavily on the motivation of the person concerned to maintain good oral hygiene at home and to attend regular checkups.
